blueberries. never tried them before until today. actually, technically i have but only in cheesecakes or baked tea cakes, not even a blueberry muffin. plus: the cake and cheese is just too overpowering for the humble blueberry.
at first glance this berry is not the most exciting one. blackish-blue skin like a bruise, not very appealing. first bite: “tastes like a mulberry.” there wasn’t much difference. raw, bittersweet, mild flavour. but after a few you begin to define its distinct flavour and discover that it isn’t that humble after all. it does have a raw & grassy flavour but the after taste is really unique. kind of musky & a little bitter. its a really good berry and is often put down by so many other strong & sweet flavours, what a shame.

i was reading the Reader’s Digest and there was quite an eye-catching article, ‘eco warrior overload’. the article begins by blaming the reader for making the days hotter, sea levels rise and dam lavels plummet. i guess it is our fault with all the technology and such, but are we doing anything about it? and if we are is there a limit to this green madness? most of us say that we are in fact doing our parts for the environment. obviously that isn’t true, otherwise we would be living in a ’greener’ world rather than the concrete jungle we are further developing, or rather digging ourselves in to. so heres the problem: us. but are we doing anything to become ’bright green’ or are we just happy being ‘browned out’? we just dont have the will to save the environment. ”save the world? i’ll start tomorrow”, “i know it is environmentally incorrect, but i love it”, thoughts like these restrict us from being at the front line of the green army. but are we overdoing it? a woman said, “there are too any plastic bags in shopping centres but i don’t feel guilty about accepting them to carry home my groceries…just about everything you pick up in a supermarket is wrapped in plastic, even the organic produce comes wrapped in it.” i think we can try our best to do our part and encourage others to do theirs so hopefully our world will at least be a bit more healthier and not suffer from the smoke & pollution caused by: us.

go nature!
