Hooray! Today someone shared Hebrews 2:10 with me, and it reads:
“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.“
This verse captures Easter this year for me. I, a son of God, am brought to glory only though Christ’s suffering on the cross. Tomorrow is truly going to be a great morning!
Dave loves to sit his boat on the lake, skimming across the water on warm sunny days. But one morning the weather was cool and mostly cloudy. So he went on his own. It was so cold that he flitted back and forth across the lake, trying to keep himself in the sunshine for some needed warmth. But every time he reached a sunny area, the clouds moved and it quickly turned to shade. Realizing the futility and silliness of chasing the sunshine, he finally gave up because it didn’t bring her what he wanted.
Chasing after empty pleasure
Will not satisfy one’s heart;
But to those who follow Jesus,
Life’s fulfillment He’ll impart.
Only God can fill an empty heart.

i’m going back to primary school. i remember drawing clouds and little pictures around the page hoping to get that extra gold star next to my name. well it looks like i’m back in the primary school scene, except there are no gold stars. these funny diagrams are actually quite helpful in clarifying some thoughts & ideas. but what is the difference between a mind map and a brain storm?:
mind map: a mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks, or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. mind maps are used to generate,visualize, structure, and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
brainstorm: brainstorming is a group creativity technique designed to generate a large number of ideas for the solution of a problem.
thanks wikipedia : )
these diagrams have helped me clarify ideas, unjumble thoughts & categorize concepts. the most recent mind map: ‘wait on the Lord’. sometimes it is hard to grasp the word of God. so the map clarified my thoughts further. go mind maps.

This is where holiness begins – not with ourselves, but with God.
beginning: the pursuit of holiness – jerry bridges. just a few notes and an excerpt. to walk in obedience to God’s word is living a life of holiness. God expects us to live holy lives, it is promised to every Christian. holiness & unholiness is not just a list of dos and don’ts,
to be holy: 1. be morally blameless – separated from sin and therefore consecrated to God, 2. have godly conduct.
some important outlooks on holiness (paul, peter & john):
1 Thessalonian 4:3-7 – contrast to immorality & impurity
1 Peter 1:14-16 – contrast to living according to evil desires
Revelation 22:11 – contrasted with those who are wrong
an excerpt from holiness is for you: (chapter one.)
‘We will first consider the holiness of God. This is where holiness begins – not with ourselves, but with God. It is only as we see His holiness, His absolute purity and moral hatred of sin, that we will be gripped by the awfulness of sin against the Holy God. To be gripped by that fact is the first step in our pursuit of holiness.”
“that you put off,
concerning your former conduct,
the old man which grows corrupt
according to deceitful lusts…
and that you put on the
new man which was created according
to God, in true righteousness and
holiness.
- Ephesians 4:22&24
“For I am the Lord your God.
You shall therefore consecrate
yourselves,
and you shall be holy;
for I am holy.”
- Leviticus 11:44

as the new year comes so do new year resolutions. these new year resolutions are different though. they set a mark that must be followed & cultivated. don’t like that word: cultivated.
cultivate: ‘to develop or improve by education or training; train; refine’. ‘to promote the growth or development’. ’to seek to promote or foster’. and lastly ‘to devote oneself ’.
the last one really means a lot. to devote oneself: to reaching these new years resolutions. at church we were challenged to set goals and these were given by our resident pastor.
goals:
- wait on the Lord. – isaiah 40:29
- strive to be filled with the Holy Spirit. – acts 2:30
- understand and appreciate God’s word. – matthew 13:52a
- acquire more spiritual treasures. – matthew 13:52b
continue to strive in the way of the Lord : )
“But to those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”
– Isaiah 40:31
