the end of the first month in twentyten is already here. which brings in the new school year. ready – no. studying – no. excited – yes. it is going to be harder but what do you expect. this year will be different, i hope. more studying, more work. it is all good.

with school comes challenges. work, study, friends & my spiritual growth chart. the last one is the difficult one. but it is time to change. continue to grow, continue to seek, continue to learn & continue to pray.

journal entry # 10.

what a productive day. went to a friends place to, well paint some walls. and they were white. but one was black, and it was chalkboard paint. which means you can draw on it with chalk. amazing right? hard work but it is all worth it in the end, but this was only the first coat. so it will be finished tomorrow. i hope. well i drew a picture on the black wall. it was meant to be a floating cloud. then my brother wrote ‘idiot’ in the middle of the cloud. so i drew an arrow to the cloud to explain that it was a floating cloud. i wish i brought my camera with me. had the urge to draw a poop on the board/wall, but i wasn’t allowed. oh well maybe next time.

we sung. we danced. but we didn’t steal things. get it? : ) but we painted and sang. with the occasional dance. we also watched korean videos. its called ‘korean madness’. i laughed so hard my insides and outsides hurt (i fell on the floor laughing). and there was picture taking : ) wow, today was awesome. good company, polaroids, laughing, singing, dancing, watching, eating & don’t forget painting.

grandpapa came over for dinner. because it is australia day! we had a lot to eat. the meal consisted of: potato salad, big brown mushrooms, caesar salad, beef, chicken & sausages. we cooked it on a weber, a spherical shaped barbeque. ours is red in colour. it is through God’s grace that my grandpa is still well and is currently taking care of my grandmama. i think this is where i see God’s guidance, protection & perseverance most evidently. and i can’t thank Him enough.

what a wonderful day.

This is where holiness begins – not with ourselves, but with God.

beginning: the pursuit of holiness – jerry bridges. just a few notes and an excerpt. to walk in obedience to God’s word is living a life of holiness. God expects us to live holy lives, it is promised to every Christian. holiness & unholiness is not just a list of dos and don’ts,

to be holy: 1. be morally blameless – separated from sin and therefore consecrated to God, 2. have godly conduct.

some important outlooks on holiness (paul, peter & john):

1 Thessalonian 4:3-7 – contrast to immorality & impurity

1 Peter 1:14-16 – contrast to living according to evil desires

Revelation 22:11 – contrasted with those who are wrong

an excerpt from holiness is for you: (chapter one.)

‘We will first consider the holiness of God. This is where holiness begins – not with ourselves, but with God. It is only as we see His holiness, His absolute purity and moral hatred of sin, that we will be gripped by the awfulness of sin against the Holy God. To be gripped by that fact is the first step in our pursuit of holiness.”

“that you put off,
concerning your former conduct,
the old man which grows corrupt
according to deceitful lusts…

and that you put on the
new man which was created according
to God, in true righteousness and
holiness.

- Ephesians 4:22&24

“For I am the Lord your God.
You shall therefore consecrate
yourselves,

and you shall be holy;
for I am holy.”

- Leviticus 11:44

new year resolutions.

as the new year comes so do new year resolutions. these new year resolutions are different though. they set a mark that must be followed & cultivated. don’t like that word: cultivated.

cultivate: ‘to develop or improve by education or training; train; refine’. ‘to promote the growth or development’. ’to seek to promote or foster’. and lastly ‘to devote oneself ’.

the last one really means a lot. to devote oneself: to reaching these new years resolutions. at church we were challenged to set goals and these were given by our resident pastor.

goals:

  • wait on the Lord. – isaiah 40:29
  • strive to be filled with the Holy Spirit. – acts 2:30
  • understand and appreciate God’s word. – matthew 13:52a
  • acquire more spiritual treasures. – matthew 13:52b

continue to strive in the way of the Lord : )

“But to those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles…”

– Isaiah 40:31
